1st Junior High School of Byron

Our school has developed a positive culture based on communication and collaboration among all members of the school community. Specifically, our educational staff sets learning objectives, builds a sense of commitment among the involved members, enhances motivation to achieve these goals, cultivates values, and encourages productivity. All these efforts are carried out in a spirit of cooperation with the rest of the school community (students and parents), recognizing that these achievements are not easily attained but are the result of ongoing collaboration and managed with a team-oriented and participatory approach. Our primary goal is to provide opportunities in daily school life for everyone (students, educators, administration, parents, local community) to engage in common affairs and their sustainable management, always aiming to create a sustainable school that serves democracy and human rights, promotes culture and the environment, and shapes active and creative citizens.

During the 2022-23 school year, 401 students attended our school, and the educational staff consisted of 44 teachers. Regarding classrooms and laboratories, the conditions are as described in previous Internal Evaluation Reports.

Vyronas, where our school is located, is an area with unique social, cultural, and economic characteristics and includes a percentage of vulnerable and sensitive social groups. This is taken into serious consideration by all our educators in managing and resolving related issues. Above all, our school has a European orientation. Specifically, some of our staff are members of e-Twinning, we have participated in several eTwinning projects and have received three European Quality Labels, and we are an eTwinning School. Furthermore, our school participated in a bilateral Comenius programme concerning Art in the school during the years 2013-15, and most importantly, in the Erasmus programme concerning Human Rights from 2018-20 and Digital Transformation of our school from 2023-2025
